On March 13th, Momen’s CEO, Yaokai Jiang (Computer Science, 2007, Cambridge), was honored to join the panel of expert judges at Fitzelerate, Fitzwilliam College’s annual entrepreneurship event. As a Cambridge alumnus and a passionate advocate for entrepreneurship, Yaokai brought Momen’s support to the event, sponsoring $1,500 in platform credits to each participant to help students develop their business ideas.

This year’s Fitzelerate Pitch Event featured five outstanding student-led teams, each tackling real-world challenges—from sustainable forestry data management to AI-enhanced STEM note taking software. Competing for up to £5,000 in funding, the teams presented their business ideas to a panel of expert judges, aiming to secure support for their ventures.

    What is Fitzelerate?

Fitzwilliam College is one of Cambridge University’s 31 colleges, committed to fostering talent and innovation among its students. Fitzelerate is the College’s annual student entrepreneurship program, designed to provide an opportunity for Fitzwilliam students to develop or enhance their skills and experience in an increasingly entrepreneurial world.

This year’s competition showcased innovative ideas, including: A verified marketplace for solar installations in Africa, A sustainable forestry data management platform; AI-driven solutions for STEM education.

Two teams were awarded funding to accelerate their ventures:

    • EurekaPad, led by Zayne Zhang, Adelyn Wu, and Haoyang Huang, received £3,000 for their AI-enhanced STEM notation software, designed to make technical writing more accessible. The team was mentored by Yaokai Jiang.

    • Greenleaf & Bowker secured £2,000 to develop a blockchain-based derivatives marketplace.

EurekaPad: The "Notion for Technical Writing"

EurekaPad is one of the most exciting projects, which aims to simplify technical writing for STEM students and professionals. With over 100M STEM students and 8M researchers worldwide, most struggle with complex tools like LaTeX. EurekaPad offers an AI-powered, user-friendly alternative. Combining Overleaf’s writing power with Google Docs’ real-time collaboration, it simplifies note-taking with AI autocompletions, interactive elements, and PDF imports. Designed to streamline workflows, EurekaPad ensures that smart people get the smart tools they deserve.

As a mentor, Yaokai helped EurekaPad refine their business model and GTM strategy by:

    • Defining ICP – Focused on STEM students needing quick, intuitive note-taking over broad technical writing users.

    • Shifting to Problem-Solving – Reframed their pitch around key pain points: difficulty finding notes, limited graph interactivity, and lack of built-in code execution.

    • Leveraging Student Status – Identified advantages and challenges of being student founders.

    • Redefining GTM & Product Strategy – Secured early adopters, sought professor endorsements, and leveraged affiliate marketing.

    • Optimizing Pricing Model – Balanced free vs. paid features to drive adoption and monetization.

With a clear vision and strategic direction, EurekaPad impressed the judges and mentors, securing £3,000 in funding to accelerate their mission of transforming technical writing for STEM professionals.
